HeadlinesPorts Management CRFFN employs intimidation approach against freight forwarders – Group. By maritimemag November 2, 2020 ShareTweet 0 Segun Oladipupo. | Freight forwarders have accused the present management of the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) of high handedness in its administration. The freight professionals further accused the regulators of applying intimidation in its administration of the freight forwarding practice which they say is having negative impact on the economic development of the country. Speaking with our correspondent recently, Otunba Frank Ogunojemite, National President of the Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON) said that the Council did not have any impact on Nigerian freight forwarders both at association level and individually. Speaking further, Otunba Ogunojemite condemned the fact that the Council did not engage freight forwarders in its activities and decision making processes. He said, “How can you be a shepherd without sheep? A tree does not make a forest. Activities in the ports have been before CRFFN. “CRFFN was brought in to make things better for freight forwarders but how many people are being carried along? “People say it is because APFFLON is not accredited and I say what is the benefit to those who are accredited as individuals and associations, what can they say boldly they benefited? “I want to tell you that they are using intimidation. The present management are using CRFFN to intimidate freight forwarders and not for capacity building. “It is one thing to talk to your children and it is another thing to use autocratic means. “The present management is using intimidation and not making things easier not only for the freight forwarders but for the citizens of this country who are major importers to the country, thereby indirectly affecting the economic development and the purpose for which CRFFN was engaged. “Ask Aniebonam, Shittu, Alhaji Olanrewaju when last they were engaged by CRFFN, no time. I can tell you this not because I asked them but I did my intelligent investigation as a stakeholder in this industry. “This autocratic dispensation will not bring prosperity to CRFFN,” he submitted. © 2020, maritimemag.
