Dr Osagie Ehanire, Minister of Health, on Thursday gave this piece of information on Thursday, during a press conference with the diplomatic community in Abuja. Ehanire said: “The victim will be discharged soon.” He informed the diplomatic community on steps being taken by the Federal Government to tackle the spread of Coronavirus in Nigeria. The Minister also stated that there are only two confirmed cases in Nigeria as of now. According to the minister, the Federal Government is not contemplating imposition of a travel ban on travellers over the spread of the deadly coronavirus pointing out that the country has not reached the point of banning large gatherings. Ehanire assured the foreign diplomats that the measures put in place by the FG would contain the spread of the disease, noting that “there was no immediate reason for now to impose a travel ban.” He said the country is guided by the World Health Organisation guideline on coronavirus containment. Ehanire had confirmed the first case of COVID-19 in Nigeria. The Minister had confirmed the outbreak of the disease in Lagos State on February 27.
