Covid 19: Immigration boss charges personnel to beef up security

The Assistant Comptroller General, Nigeria Immigration Service in charge of Zone “A”, Mohammed Alfa has called on officers and men of the Service to beef up security in the port amidst corona virus pandemic.

He made the call during a working visit to Apapa and Tin Can Island Ports.

He was conducted round the various sections of the Command by the Comptroller, Lagos Seaports/ Marine Command, Mrs. Olubusola Fashakin.

Alfa who reaffirmed that the Lagos seaports remain open for operations, urged personnel of the Command to brace up for the challenges of the COVID19 pandemic .

In a release made available to newsmen, the Public Relations Officer, Lagos Seaports/ Marine Command , Augustus Maisor explained, that the visit was in continuation of the ACG’s assessment of operations in Commands under the Zone during the period of the lockdown.

Addressing officers and men of the Marine Command, Alfa acknowledged the enormity of the challenges posed by the current Corona Virus pandemic and urged them to live up to their statutory responsibility of securing the nation’s borders.

According to the Assistant Comptroller General, the Lagos Seaports remain open and urged personnel of the Command to brace up for the challenges of the moment.

While reminding officers and men of the NCDC guidelines on social distancing and personal hygiene, ACG Alfa said the Service under the leadership of Comptroller General of Immigration, Mohammad Babandede was doing all it takes to provide the needed infrastructure to enhance their operations.

He also used the event to demonstrate hand washing as a measure aimed at preventing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also on ground to receive the ACG who is the Zonal Coordinator for Lagos and Ogun states, were the DPO Apapa Port, the officer in charge of the Anti-bomb Squad and representatives of other sister agencies.
