By ZION Olalekan | A 34-year-old clearing agent, Kingsley Ahuchaogwu , was on Wednesday remanded in custody by Yaba Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, for an alleged stealing of six 40-foot containers loaded with agricultural equipment. The fraud unit prosecuting counsel, Mr Idowu Onime told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 12 at the premises of Ademoke International Ltd. in Ijora, Lagos. Onime submitted that the accused conspired with others still at large, pretended to be forwarding agent, forged the company’s identity cards and stole the shipping containers belonging to the company. “My Lord, investigation has commenced, and there is overwhelming evidence linking the accused to the offence. “We have recovered two out of the six containers through the accused’s statement, but we need more time to complete the investigation,” Onime said. The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwatoyin Oghere ordered the accused be remanded in Police Fraud Unit custody for 21 days pending the conclusion of investigation into the case and adjourned the case to August 9 for hearing. © 2018, maritimemag.
