HeadlinesNews Court convicts ex-NIMASA DG, Calistus Obi of corruption By maritimemag May 23, 2019 ShareTweet 0 A Federal High Court in Lagos, Thursday, convicted Calistus Obi, a former acting Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) charged with N136 million fraud. Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the court remanded the convicts in prison custody until May 28 for sentencing. Mr Obi took over from Patrick Ziakede Akpobolokemi as the Chief Executive Officer. In the charge filed against Mr Obi, he was alleged to have committed the offences on August 5, 2014. According to the EFCC, Obi and a former staff of NIMASA allegedly conspired to convert money from the agency, with the knowledge that same were proceeds of stealing. The offences contravene the provisions of Sections 15 and 18 (a) of the Money Laundering Prohibitions (Amendment) Act, 2012. © 2019, maritimemag. All rights reserved.
