Communities in Ondo state have been called upon to own the Community Policing project as it is all theirs.

The AIG Zone 17, Akure, AIG David Folawiyo psc(+), mni, made the call at the Community Policing Sensitization program,  which  held at the Arcade, in Akure, Ondo State.

In his addres, AIG FOLAWIYO said, ‘own the Community Policing project’. ‘It is all yours’

The AIG emphasized that every Special Constable represents the community that nominates him just as the community stands by him or her and owns them.

Folawiyo explained that  Community policing is a one-for- all, all-for-one system.

He called on the people to embrace and guard the project jealousy especially as it is grassroot based.

Also speaking at the well attended sensitization program, the lead speaker and the Zonal Coordinator, Chief Sunday. G. Ehindero CFR, IGP (Rtd), emphasized that it is only the application of Community Policing tenets that can rightly safe  communities from the current debacle of kidnappings, banditry, robberies and other menacing criminal activities.

Ehindero chronicled  the levels of implementation from the Advisory Committees, to the State Committees, the Area Command Committees, the Local Government Committees, the Divisional Committees and as many strategies and bonds of partnerships as are possible.

The highly elaborate sensitization programme and the interactive session was edifying and educative.

All security agencies, Traditional rulers, the youth, religious leaders as well as the new Special Constables, attended the programme.
