HeadlinesNews Apapa/Oshodi expressway: FG to award contract to AG Dangote By maritimemag July 5, 2018 ShareTweet 0 Tayo Oladipupo | The Federal Ministry of Works Power and Housing has disclosed that negotiation for the award of Apapa/Oshodi expressway to AG Dangote is at the final stage. It added that immediate palliative would be carried out on Berger, Sunrise, and Coconut axis of the road, in a bid to make it motorable while the major construction work would follow. According to an official of the ministry who pleaded anonymity because she is not permitted to speak to the press, AG Dangote would recoup the money it will spend on the rehabilitation of the road through tax relief. The project officer in charge of Apapa maintained that the palliative would complement the ones carried out by individuals on the road earlier. Speaking on the palliative work done on the road so far, she said, “They have done a lot and what they have done will last pending when the construction work will get there. “This one, Dangote is seeking refund through tax relief but Apapa own is purely Corporate Social Responsibility, they are not asking for any refund. On how soon the project is expected to commence, she did not specify the actual time but stated that it would soon commence adding that AG Dangote responds swiftly to issues. “As soon as I get there now, their response is very swift. We are waiting on the ministry to appoint another contractor but since the road is at the final stage, they can do all the repair works,” she said. Recall that a group of tank farm owners under the aegis of Committee of Directors, had in February carried out palliative measures on the road but failed to actualise it. © 2018, maritimemag.
