ANLCA Dismisses Rumour of Internal Crisis

The Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANCLA) has dismissed as unfounded the report making rounds, that, the association is currently bedevilled with crisis.

Speculations are rife that the newly inaugurated Executive of Tony Iju Nwabunike was at logger head with the immediate past President of the Association, Prince Olayiwola Shittu who reportedly accused the new leadership of plan to probe him.

The speculations were fuelled by the removal of Chief Henry Njoku as Chairman of the BOT after 10 years on the saddle.

However, Prince Taiye Oyeniyi, the Secretary of the board, disclosed that, there was no crisis in the association and that, no attempt was being made or was being contemplated to probe or witch hunts Prince Shittu.

He nevertheless confirmed the replacement of Chief Njoku as the BOT chairman with Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha through an election.

Speaking at a round table meeting  with the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) at its Secretariat in Apapa Lagos at the weekend, Secretary of the ANCLA board, Prince Taiye Oyeniyi, gave names of other members of the board which include Chief Dennis Okafor  as Vice Chairman and Prince Taiye Oyeniyi as Secretary.

He said that together with Mustapha, they would be piloting the board affairs for the next two years with effect from 15th April 2018.

“ANCLA does not have any crisis, the incumbent President Hon. Tony Uju is at peace with every member. However, some of the issues at hand are presently an internal matter that can be resolved within us.

”In recognition that the present leadership under Chief Henry Njoku has done about two year-term, a motion was moved and adopted by 5 votes with names respectively Prince Taiye Oyeniyi, Chief Ernest Elochukwu , Alhaji Taiwo Mustapha, Chief Dennis Okafor and Mr. Dayo Azeez. 

Oyeniyi also revealed that, the internal wrangling within the former BOT culminated into series of attempts made by Henry Njoku to frustrate convening a meeting to peacefully elect a new BOT Chairman.

He argued that, Njoku was not removed based on tribal sentiment but on expiration of tenue which was long overdue.

Meanwhile, the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding of Nigeria (CRFFN)’has fixed its elections into its governing council for May 16th 2018.

According to the elections time table released by Sir Mike Jukwe, the Registrar and CEO of the Council, collection of nomination forms by interested contestants commences on Monday April 23, 2018 and all duly completed forms must be returned to the CRFFN offices in Apapa – Lagos, Port Harcourt, Kano and Abuja not later than Friday May 4, 2018.

According to the Registrar, screening of contestants will hold between Monday May 7 and Wednesday May 9, 2018 while the list of qualified contestants will be displayed between Friday May 10, 2018 and Monday May 14, 2018.

The release further stated that, election into the Governing Council will hold on Wednesday May 16, 2018 in Abuja, while the Governing Council will be inaugurated in Abuja on Friday May 25, 2018.

CRFFN, a creation of an Act of Parliament   is the regulatory agency of the freight forwarding industry and is under the Federal Ministry of Transportation.
