HeadlinesNews AMARTO Warns Members to Stop Parking on Apapa Roads, Bridges By maritimemag January 21, 2019 ShareTweet 0 By ZION Olalekan The Association of Maritime Truck Owners (AMARTO) has begun a campaign and sensitization of its members against indiscriminate parking of their trucks on access roads to the Apapa ports and bridges across Lagos. Chairman of AMARTO, Chief Remi Ogungbemi told nigeriamaritime360.com that the truckers are now being sensitized to remove all their trucks from queueing on Apapa roads and make use of their garages. He charged truck drivers to have faith in the manual call-up system introduced by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) saying that truckers must stop bribing their way in order to gain access into the port. Ogungbemi said that “Truckers should stop paying for passing of their trucks into the ports, doing so is an act of foolishness” “NPA said that the manual Call-Up is a condition to regulate and control movement of all trucks coming into the ports, being precursor to electronic system” “Therefore, all trucks should go to their garage and wait until they collect Call Up paper to enter the ports. Don’t park on roads and bridges again” he said. © 2019, maritimemag. All rights reserved.
