Chibuike Amaechi, on Friday mandated contractors of Salary Inland Dry Port in Kano to include Primary School and free education to children within the facility area as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility plans Amaechi gave the order while inspecting the site of the dry port in company of the state governor, Umar Ganduje. Taking to his Twitter handle, @chibuikeAmaechi on Friday, amaechi wrote, “Inspecting the site of Dala Inland Dry Port in Kano with the State Governor, @Gov UmarGanduje today, I mandated the Project Contrators to include a Primary School in their Coporate Social Responsibility plans and offer free education to children in that area”. Dala Inland Dry Port project is a logistics park located at Zawachiki in Kumbotso LGA of Kano State. The port is expected to provide services from transportation, haulage, and warehousing to custom clearing services in the export processing zone. Meanwhile, the project is a collaboration between the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) and Kano State Government, in a bid to kickstart the project and turn it into a destination port in the region. In a recent report, the NSC stated that the port upon completion, would be able to accommodate up to the equivalent of 20,020ft units of capacity. After three years, the port is expected to be operating at 50,000ft equivalent unit.
