Recall that Lagos state government had recent directed that all abandoned trucks along the. Port access roads would be towed by the state agency. But reacting to the development, a member of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO), Abdullah Inuwa has cried out saying that 80% of the trucks towed by LASTMA are the ones returning empty containers to the port and not abandoned on the road as claimed by the agency. He queried what government is doing about the shipping companies that fail to acquire holding bays therefore turning trucks to their holding bays. “You will agree with me 80% of the trucks are carrying empty containers of majority shipping lines that doesn’t have functional holding bays. “What happens to the shipping lines for the failure of their responsibility?” He queried.
