News 56—YEAR OLD ACCUSED PLEADS GUILTY TO ELECTRIC CABLE THEFT AT PORT By maritimemag May 8, 2018 ShareTweet 0 Adeleye Odekun 56, on Monday pleaded guilty to stealing electric cable belonging to the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) at Tin Can Island Port, Apapa, Lagos. The 56-year old, who was charged before an Apapa Magistrates’ Court, was arraigned on a two-count charge of trespass and stealing. The prosecutor, Alexander Esebamen told the court that the accused committed the offence on March 25, 2018 around 5am at Marketing Hall, Tin Can Island Port, Apapa. The accused according to the prosecutor, trespassed into NPA premises and was found in possession of a roll of electric cable wire valued at N100, 000 suspected to have been stolen. Esebamen said when an NPA security officer accosted Adeleye; the accused was unable to give account of the cable in his possession. According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 168 (1h) and 287 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015. The 56-year-old man pleaded guilty to the charges against him.
