HeadlinesIllicit Trade Shun fake goods; anti-piracy group warns Shippers, manufacturers By maritimemag February 20, 2019 ShareTweet 0 Tayo oladipupo The Anti-Piracy Society of Nigeria (APSN) has called on manufacturers and importers of goods into the country to shun fake goods and embrace standard products. The Director General of APSN, Frank Uduonu, gave the warning while speaking to newsmen during a campaign and sensitization rally on the dangers of fake products held in Anambra State. The DG said it would not compromise in its efforts to ensure that standard products were displayed in Nigerians markets. Uduonu further warned manufacturers and importers of products to abide by the rules by living up to the oath of their certification. According to him, the body would not hesitate to deal with any manufacturer and importer who reduced the quality of products or import fake ones. The APSN boss said that the body want to ensure that the quality of products that are available to the consumers is of high standard. Uduonu noted that the campaign to the three senatorial zones of Anambra State was to create awareness, adding that monitoring would be unannounced or unscheduled. He added that the sensitization of Nigerians especially the people in Anambra State was to instil the import of genuine and originality, hence the need to give window of opportunities to some of them to correct to improve on the quality of their products. © 2019, maritimemag.
