Merchant Navy boss tasks members on developmental mentality

The National President of the Nigerian Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association (NMNOWTSSA) , c has tasked officers and members of the union to up their ante to ensure development of the group.

He also charged the officers to be diligent in their assignments and work assiduously to bring the organisation into good stead. Alalade gave the charge during the elections of officers into the three final branches of the association.

Recall that there have been pocket of reports over attacks on fishing trawlers and other areas of seafaring operations in Nigeria. Meanwhile, the union elected new officers into three of its zonal councils.

The seafarers union has offshore, fishing , NIWA and shipping zonal councils.

For the Fishing Zonal Council, Captain Akinloye Azeez emerged the new chairman of the Zonal Council while Captain Upenko Ilemubayo emerged Vice Chairman. Other include: Comrade Kingsley Enahoro as secretary, Chief Omotayo Alfred as Treasurer and Captain Okuse as Auditor.

Meanwhile, Captain James Onugo emerged Assistant Secretary. The election was held on the 15th of October 2019.

For the offshore Zonal Council election; Comrade Cyril Nzekwe emerged Chairman while Comrade Williams Ogar won the post of Vice Chairman.

Others include: Comrade Clem Oyesom emerged Secretary, Comrade Nnamdi Dike now Assistant Secretary, Comrade Simon Jacob Idakwo as financial secretary and Comrade Chinyere Tucker is the new Public Relations Officer of the offshore Zonal Council executives.

For NIWA Zonal Council, Mohammed Tanko emerged Chairman while Victoria Wakili won the Vice Chairmanship slot.

Idenyi Yahaya emerged secretary while Osazuwa Martins won the post of Assistant  secretary.Others include: Abolarin Joseph as Treasurer, A Abdulmalik  emerged auditor,  while Sheman Sule , Mrs Ahmed S., Mazai Mohammed and Bala Spencer all emerged as ex-officio .

The elections for shipping zonal councils held on the 24th of October 2019.

However, National President of the union , Engineer Matthew Alalade charged the newly elected officers to pilot the affairs for their respective councils diligently adding that the task ahead is for the executives to up the ante and take the union to greater heights.
