Knocks

A big knock for the Nigerian Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association as they went cap in hand to their junior colleagues last week begging for operational vehicle.

The senior officers threw cautions to the winds in doing this especially that the request was made by the National President of the association.

Is it poverty mentality that makes a supposedly senior colleague to debase himself with so much ignominy?

Even the President General of the junior officers opened his mouth in awe as well as other members of his entourage who came with him on the visit to the Secretariat of the senior members.

Worse still, the members of the junior cadre chose to ignore that aspect in their response to the speech of Merchant Navy officers.

When asked why he descended so low, the President said, “It is my people that said I should make the request.”
Ah! Ah!! Why didn’t you use your sense of judgement sir?

Kudos

The nigeriamaririme360.com thumbs up the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) for inaugurting 120 -man debris removal from the Nigerian territorial waters.

The initiative has been applauded in some quarters, saying it will keep the waterways navigable.

Seafarers and other relevant stakeholders who spoke on the development also maintained that the lives of water transport commuters would be subjected to less hazard.

However, they are asking how much is NIMASA committing into this project, pleading that it should not end up being an avenue to siphone tax-payers money.
