Delta govt expresses concern over incessant attacks against transporters

Delta State government has warned sea pirates in the state to stay clear from the waterways in their own interests.

The warning was handed down by the Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters to the state governor, Comrade Ezekiel Daniel.

The newly appointed Special Assistant stressed that Delta State Government will no longer condone any criminal acts saying, “Anyone caught will be dealt with as a common criminal.”

Daniel handed down the warning during a press briefing at Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area,even as he said the state government will soon roll out waterway patrol which may finally put to end, the attacks of pirates

Daniel said the State is disturbed over pirates frequent attacks on commercial transporters and residents among riverside dwellers from Warri to Burutu routes, to Agge Delta boundaries, from Warri to Escravos, to Warri North Rivers of the State.

“Another concern of the state government is the unabated increase of cultism in our dear State.
“The act of these miscreants have destroyed night life in our cities and communities. Law abiding citizens are harassed and intimidated on daily basis.

“It makes life unpleasant in the State, and the State can no longer condone it. We are assuring Deltans that the security apparatus will do more to address this menace.

“It is our warning that those persons who are into such criminal activities should repent now, because anyone caught may be jailed for life.

“The people’s governor, Dr. IfeanyiAurthorOkowa will soon inaugurate special team of security men to tackle the menace of street cultism and other related vices.

“It is also a fact that our people are facing a serious herdsmen attacks in the recent times, the State is working assiduously to nip- it in bud and special task force including community vigilantes will soon be put in place to forestall the deadly herdsmen attacks in our highways and communities as to create safe environment for our communities and farmers to go about their normal duties without any molestation.

“It is our warning that herdsmen who will not do their business peacefully should leave the State without further delay as the State government will no longer fold hands to watch reckless and barbaric herdsmen attacks against law abiding citizens of the State.”

Daniel implored Deltans to join  hands with Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa in the full organization of his SMART AGENDA project in our craving to retain the pinnacle of cynosure to other States and Nigerians.
Daniel expressed his gratitude to Governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for appointing him as his Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters.

“On behalf of my dear family, the people Democratic party, PDP, the good people of Warri North Local government  Area and the entire Ijaw people of our great Delta State, I sincerely express my heartfelt gratitude to our most respected and revered number one citizens of Delta State, his Excellency Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi.A. Okowa and other for deeming of fit after finding me worthy to be appointed as his senior special assistance on security.”

He assured the governor that he will work assiduously on his(Governor Okowa’s) instructions in securing the excravous river, to Burutu and Agge river, Bomadi/Patani areas, and from the Burutu river boundaries with Edo State to eastern boundaries of both rivers and Bayelsa States.
